Where It All Began…

It all started with an ice-cream shop. One day, after college, I decided to see how things were going in the morning shift. Once I got there, I saw two people eating ice-cream. I checked the sales total to see how much they sold throughout the morning. Surprisingly, there were zero sales registered. I very discreetly approached the clients who had bought the ice-cream, and began to ask them if they were pleased with the product, how they were treated and how much they payed for their ice-cream. So, I then walked away from the shop and opened up the security system in my cellphone, (thankfully they had just fixed them and were running smoothly!). I then proceeded to check the moment when the clients arrived to the shop, up to the moment they went up to the cashier to pay. I could see clearly when they payed, the cashier gave them their change which she had taken from her pockets, and then proceeded to put the money they payed with in her pockets. The cashier never even touched the computer to register the transaction! At that very moment I had so many questions and realized:
  • How many other times has this happened?
  • How am I going to handle the situation with the employee? (I’m going to get into this in another post!).
  • What should I do to avoid this, and to know if this ever happens again?
A couple of years later, after a lot of hard work and dedication, we were able to design and develop several tools with which we make our reports. We extract data from security cameras, analyze them, and concentrate all the information gathered in a report that provides images and charts that allow you to see closely what happens in your business when you’re not there.
Thankfully, I now have a better night’s sleep knowing that my business is being looked after!
